You're welcome to walk in your own groups, solo or join one of our informal groups that will leave at regular intervals. This is your chance to walk and enjoy the beautiful course used for our runners Spring half marathon. This time of year is absolutely stunning in Rutland, the Spring flowers are starting to emerge, the woodland is fantastic and the lambs are bouncing around the fields. Hambleton peninsula gives the very best panoramic views of Rutland water.
We are excited to share this experience with you.

Please be aware that the temperature and weather can range significantly at this time of year. The event will go ahead in most weather conditions. Safety is our primary concern, we will keep you up to date in the week prior to the event if conditions are going to influence the delivery of this race.
Not everyone wants to run a half marathon, but you can conquer the distance and enjoy the achievement whilst walking the course. The distance does not change, the achievement is the same.
The course includes some of the most stunning views over Rutland water. This is our favourite part of the county.
How To Find us
Getting to the start line
Whitwell - Free to walkers (Approximately 10 minutes from the start line)

The event is fully supported by our medical team. We have paramedics, all terrain ambulances and a mobile medical centre at your disposal.

The terrain is mixed. The majority is tarmac but there are some rougher tracks once you get onto the peninsula. We cannot promise that there won't be damp sections, especially in the wooded areas. At this time of year the tracks can be muddy and covered in leaves. We suggest caution especially on the looser ground.
What will you receive before the race?
You'll receive an event guide via email two weeks prior to the event.
We will send your race bib in the post prior to the event. You will also receive your car park exit ticket.
Can you walk for charity?
You are very welcome to walk for charity. We would love you to raise lots of dosh for a good cause.
What is an average walking pace?
Google seems to think around 3 miles an hour. That means 4 hours will be an average finish time.
We have allowed 6 hours so only 2 miles an hour required to finish.
Can I eat on the way?
Yes, but please clear up after yourself.
Can I take a rucksack?
Please do. You might want some extra clothing. Unless you get warm and need to strip a few layers. You might need some snacks.
Do I need to walk the entire 13.1 miles?
Please come and enjoy the route, challenge yourself, but don't feel like you must finish the entire course. You should try and make an effort to finish where you started and once you commit to the peninsula circuit you may as well finish (its a circular route that's difficult to access) We will have sweeper vehicles that will pick you up if you struggle or run out of steam. We won't just abandon you!
Are dogs welcome?
Dogs are welcome, irresponsible owners are not.
Friendly dogs only please. They must get along with other dogs. Please clear any mess up after you! On or off the track. Enjoy walking your dog but please respect the venue and the event so we can continue to allow dogs to come along.
They must be on a short lead at all times. Long extendable leads are asking for trouble. Do not let them chase the sheep. You are responsible for your dog at all times on the site. We want to allow people this option, but are not taking responsibility for everyone and their dog! Sorry for the lecture!
