How To Find us
Getting to the start line
There are two parking options for this event.
Whitwell - Free to runners (Approximately 10 minutes from the start line)
Barnsdale - (limited availability)
When parking is full at the Barnsdale, site traffic will be re directed to Whitwell, which involves a short walk through the Bluebell wood to get to the start line. (it’s actually a very lovely walk). The car park is located just over 1km from the start line.
We encourage people to make their way to Whitwell nice and early where the walk to the start line will be well signposted.

We have a very flexible start time. This is not a race. You have a 15 minute window to cross the start line.
Open and closing times will be strictly adhered to. There are no on the day entries in this event. You must have registered in advance.
The event is fully supported by our medical team. We have paramedics, all terrain ambulances and a mobile medical centre at your disposal.
You are very safe and very well looked after during the event. They will be happy to help if you do have any issues.
The Car park is available to all our walkers. The parking fees are included in your entry. This will be valid for Barnsdale and Whitwell car park.
Please do not pass on your entry without informing us. Changing entries will only be considered within the transfer policy.
The person registered must turn up to registration on the morning of the event.
The terrain is mixed. The majority is tarmac but there are some rougher tracks once you get onto the peninsula. We cannot promise that there won't be damp sections, especially in the wooded areas. At this time of year the tracks can be muddy and covered in leaves. We suggest caution especially on the looser ground.
What will you receive before the race?
We do not send anything in the post. You must collect everything on event evening. You should receive an automated confirmation email when you register. If you do not recieve an email please first check your junk email folder. Follow the link to the start list where you will find your name if your registration has been successful. Please allow 48hrs for the system to update.
Can you walk for charity?
You are very welcome to walk for charity. We would love you to raise lots of dosh for a good cause.
What is an average walking pace?
Google seems to think around 3 miles an hour. That means 4 hours will be an average finish time.
We have allowed 6 hours so only 2 miles an hour required to finish.
Can I eat on the way?
Yes, but please clear up after yourself.
Can I take a rucksack?
Please do. You might want some extra clothing. Unless you get warm and need to strip a few layers. You might need some snacks.
Do I need to walk the entire 13.1 miles?
Please come and enjoy the route, challenge yourself, but don't feel like you must finish the entire course. You should try and make an effort to finish where you started and once you commit to the peninsula circuit you may as well finish (its a circular route that's difficult to access) We will have sweeper vehicles that will pick you up if you struggle or run out of steam. We won't just abandon you! Each walker will be given a contact telephone number so that you can call us for assistance if it is required.
Are dogs welcome?
Dogs are welcome, irresponsible owners are not.
Friendly dogs only please. They must get along with other dogs. Please clear any mess up after you! On or off the track. Enjoy walking your dog but please respect the venue and the event so we can continue to allow dogs to come along.
They must be on a short lead at all times. Long extendable leads are asking for trouble. Do not let them chase the sheep. You are responsible for your dog at all times on the site. We want to allow people this option, but are not taking responsibility for everyone and their dog! Sorry for the lecture!
